Public Opinion on Animal Testing

http://www.dw.de/animal-testing-at-odds-with-german-public-opinion/a-18431227

This article describes the shift in German public opinion on animal testing. The German public has turned on the head of the Max Planck Institute research facility, Nikos Logothetis, after a video depicting the treatment of animals in the research facility aired on German television. The video showed various graphic things including monkeys with head wounds, signs of infection and apparent vomiting this shows how little the Max Planck Institute cares for the lives of their test animals, clearly valuing their lives less than the lives of humans. In the wake of this video and after pressure from various animal rights groups city prosecutors have opened an investigation into the treatment of animals in this research facility. Sadly, a spokesperson for the Max Planck Institute has issued a statement saying that they do not plan on stopping testing on primates.
